MLS Offseason Moves
Austin FC is finalizing a deal to acquire Facundo Torres from Palmeiras. A familiar name for MLS fans, Torres starred for Orlando City from 2022-2024 before heading to Brazil for $14M last offseason. Austin will reportedly pay $9.5M for the winger who’ll be their third designated player. They had money to spend after unloading Osman Bukari and chose to spend it on a proven MLS player who’s still just 25. I like the signing for the Verde & Black.
St. Louis City is finalizing a deal to sign Senegalese center back Mamadou Fall from Barcelona. Before starting 60 games for Barcelona’s second team, Fall had a few stints with LAFC, where he was a starter. Tom Bogert reported that multiple MLS teams were after him, but St. Louis is close to getting the deal done for their new center defender.
Inter Miami continues to load up. They’re in the final stages of acquiring Mexican international striker German Berterame from CF Monterrey for a $15M fee. Berterame would be their third DP, requiring them to get rid of one of their four U-22 Initiative slots. Both Tomas Aviles and Telasco Segovia have garnered interest from teams abroad, and one is likely to be moved or converted from U-22 roster status in order to be roster compliant before the opening weekend. Berterame has scored double-digit goals in LigaMX every year since 2021. He’ll instantly be one of the best goal scorers in MLS. Miami also re-signed Tadeo Allende on a permanent deal from Celtic Vigo. This is one of, if not the single best roster in MLS history.
LAFC is finalizing a deal to sign Swedish youth international midfielder Amin Boudri from GAIS of the Swedish top division. The 21-year-old will join as a U-22 Initiative signing. Fabrizio Romano reported that the fee is €3.3M and that Boudri was one of the best players in Sweden. Boudri is a versatile playmaker who can play on the wing or in the middle. Another chess piece for this dynamic attack.
